What is Gestalt psychotherapy?
The remarkable healing potential of awareness.
Gestalt is a holistic psychotherapeutic modality which harnesses the remarkable healing capacity of awareness.
That which is held in non-judgmental, loving awareness - without an attempt to change or fix it - is healed. In Gestalt, this is known as the 'paradoxical theory of change'.
Gestalt further recognises that this contact can occur only here and now. This is why in Gestalt we very often work directly with present moment experience.
As our present moment experience is illuminated by awareness, we begin to discover choice and agency where we were formerly bound by unconscious patterning.
From the perspective of Gestalt, the body-mind holds a vast, natural intelligence. We are naturally whole and healthy.
Even maladaptive patterns are a reflection of this innate intelligence and wholeness. By bringing awareness to these maladaptive patterns, the intelligence of the body-mind begins to heal them, effortlessly.
We're happy to chat during a free consultation to discover whether Gestalt is the right fit for you. If we think another approach might be more appropriate, we'll point you in the right direction.
Here are a few indications that Gestalt might be a good fit:
You're drawn to a holistic, whole-person approach that integrates mind, body, and spirit.
You're seeking a somatic approach that honours the innate wisdom and intelligence of the body-mind.
You've tried conventional approaches like CBT and found that they haven't gotten to the root cause of your challenges.
Is Gestalt psychotherapy the right approach for me?

enough. these few words are enough.
if not these words, this breath.
if not this breath, this sitting here.
this opening to life
we have refused
again and again
until now.
until now.
